Jonathan Harker, a solicitor from London, is sent by his firm to conclude a real estate transaction with Count Dracula. He bids farewell to his fiancee Mina Westenra and her sister Lucy and begins his journey to Transylvania.
      During the coach ride to his destination, his fellow passengers are alarmed upon hearing of his visit to the castle, and one lady places a crucifix around his neck to protect him from the "evil eye". Upon reaching the Borgo pass, he is left stranded there until a mysterious coach arrives and transports him to Castle Dracula.
