Dr. Van Helsing lets Quincey give Lucy one final farewell kiss. Mina Westenra, meantime, has helped her fiancee Jonathan Harker recover from everyone thinks is "brain fever and they both return to London. But when they arrive back home, Harker is shocked to find that Dracula himself was driving the coach! Mina thinks Jonathan is seeing things after his ordeal.
Van Helsing and Dr. Seward go to the churchyard and open Lucy's tomb. It is empty! Lucy is not in her coffin. Seward is dumbfounded but Van Helsing expected this. He tells Dr. Seward he thinks Lucy has become the victim of a vampire! On the way back from this terrifying discovery, the two men come upon a little boy who said he was visited by the "bloofer" lady who took him for a little walk. Van Helsing is dismayed to find two little bite marks on the youth's neck!
Van Helsing gets together with Dr. Seward and Quincey to tell them the terrible deed they must perform. That night they travel to the churchyard and Lucy's tomb. Upon arriving they are horrified to see Lucy, who has become a vampire seeking blood from the living! She is no longer the sweet Lucy they all knew! Lucy ventures forth to Quincey and tries to seduce him, then when he falls under her charm, she tries to bite him on the neck. However, Van Helsing pulls out a crucifix and shoves it toward Lucy.
