After waiting for what seems like forever, the door to the castle opens and Count Draucla appears. The Count invites Jonathan Harker inside and even carries Harker's trunk up to the room prepared for him. Soon Dracula is questioning Harker about the arrangements for Carfax Abbey. Wolves howl outside and Dracula says, "Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make!" Harker is surprised to see hair on the palms of the Count's hands.
Next evening, as Jonathan starts to shave, he is startled to find that Dracula casts no reflection in the mirror. The Count tosses the mirror out the window. It is then that Harker notices he has cut himself while shaving. Dracula moves menacingly toward Harker, but the crucifix the woman on the coach gave him keeps the Count away. After a minute of silence, Dracula notices the photo of Mina and Lucy that Jonathan keeps with him and inquires as to who the two ladies are.
Next evening Dracula and Harker talk again. Dracula wants Harker to write to Mina telling her that he will be staying with the Count for a month. After Dracula leaves, Harker decides to investigate the castle and when he looks out a window is horrified to see Dracula crawling down the castle walls!
